While Perusing blogs this afternoon I noticed a lot of people on my list have either taken a break for summer or are on permanent hiatus. Who can blame them? The internet has lost some of its luster. Blogging is too demanding to do on a daily basis anymore due to visitor complaints about content, design, post frequency etc. I just want to blog, ya know? I want to write about whatever I want, when I want without somebody saying something negative. It would also be nice to not have to monitor your blog hourly for spam and malicious comments.
As you know, I closed down nubianblu.com. It just wasn’t fun
anymore. Even the name bugged me. I held on for as long as I could but change
was inevitable. So a few weeks ago I registered a new domain name and have been
searching for another host. The old host had great uptime and a lot of space for
the price but their reluctant about stepping up their game. Most hosts are
offering the ability to host multiply domains on one account, included. At first
I got annoyed, after I thought about it I realized I had no plans to host more
than one domain but I still wanted the option, make sense? Another thing that
bothered me was the response I got when I politely asked them to upgrade their
installation of WordPress. A rep. responded by telling me they didn’t support
or created WordPress so basically I was responsible for upgrading to the newer
version. There were several other occurrences that didn’t sit too well with me
so finally I made the decision to take a chance with another host.
Who am I kidding? After a short hiatus I will probably sign
up for year number 3 or 4, how much you wanna bet that they already have a spot
picked out for my website? LOL!
Anybody remember the Friday Five? I have been thinking about
doing something somewhat similar, not sure how well it would be received. But the
idea is too help people get passed blogging block. I have noticed something
similar here on Vox. I have also noticed how annoying it is for every entry to
be about a question. So maybe the theme idea would suck monkey balls after all.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
